Youth Positive
This month in Youth Positive, the students have been learning how to take perspective of their lives by broadening their view of reality, not being judgmental, or critical of themselves or others. Exercising positivity boosters such as reducing negative self talk and being cynical and really focusing on things that make them happy can have a huge positive impact on their lives. Daily activities that can bring happiness include reading uplifting books, hobbies, humor, playing with pets, or just getting outside for a dose of sunshine!
We have had outstanding guest speakers on "Career Opportunity" Wednesdays. Hoyt Skabelund, CEO Banner Churchill Community Hospital talked about the health care industry and prospective careers in healthcare. Today, December 14, Captain Russell Jones from NAS Fallon will join us. A huge thank you to all who have taken the time to speak to our students in 2016!

Hello Student and Parents,
During the month of December we are continuing our social emotional learning lessons using our MindUp and Youth Positive curriculum. During the second quarter Mr. Lenon has been working with grades 3,5, and 7 on Mindful Awareness, Focused Awareness, and Mindful Movement. To close out December we are learning to Express Gratitude, Performing Acts of Kindness, and Choosing Optimism.
This month we have continued our partnership with the local senior center making Christmas cards and we had our first annual gingerbread house making contest. We will make our way back over next week to have lunch with our friends at the senior center to hand out awards for the winners of the contest. We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to our friends over at CART for getting us to and from the senior center.
